Art is an adventure in creativity! Every kindergarten, first, third and fourth grade student at HCS has Art once a week for 40 minutes. Second grade has Art one and a half times a week for 40 minutes.

During their art time, students will explore different art mediums and use the process of art to order their personal experience in an artistically visual way. Painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics and collage techniques are introduced and expanded upon throughout your child’s time at HCS. Children also learn about famous artists and the history of art. Often, art integrates with the classroom curriculum. All this happens in a fun, warm, and positive environment that encourages your child’s personal creativity and view of the world.

The HCS Art Curriculum is periodically updated to remain vital and reflect current Art Education research and ensuing pedagogy. The HCS Art Curriculum has recently been updated to align with the new National Core Standards for the Visual Arts.
